Saving Face

Conceit cannot cure self-loathing

Nor vanity personal shame

The “in crowd” aren’t self-reliant

Such distinction in herds seek the same

Elitism is not self-confidence

Relying on others debased

For those who would stand at the top of this heap

Would betray their souls to save face
