Braid of Souls
In the weave of time
As my life’s entwine
Round the souls that combine
In the ply of love
`Long the edge of the braid
Strands that end and fade
Of the fibers that fray
Through the tension of seasoning
In the mind as a mist
The sunlight that kissed me
Set on horizons of when
Like a specter I knew
In the wind as it blew
Through my heart
In caresses of blissful remembrance
Then how can I pale
At new love
If I fail
Once again
Imagined or real
Through the things that I feel
I’m exalted
Or brought to the pit alone
These reflections of self
Dance in others by stealth
Bounce my image around
Like a house of mirrors
Do we actually touch
Another as much
As we worship our own
Seeking bone of our bone
While indulging a fantasy
If there is a pure view
In the cleaving of two
An extension of self
Then they truly are
Actually one in the same
Braid of soul
This poem is beautiful, you wrote it for me, even if you didn't know it at the time. It was the first poem you ever gave me.
