Power

There is no force that’s greater

Its movements like a ghost

Effecting all creation

Our bodies but a host

Its endurance--forever

Its beauty--manifold

Connection--never severed

The Love we have and hold

This opulent affinity

Beyond a reckoned sum

An eternal equation

To will

Will be

Become

Antagonists

Antagonists may pick a fight

Yet cannot cash the check

Encroachments then when beaten down

They reverse cause/effect

And act as if an underrdog

A victim sore oppressed

Denying true chronology

Wherein themselves they wrest

Amanda & Her Daddy

Amanda and her daddy

Are very special friends

They live apart, but love in heart

And visit on weekends

When daddy sees Amanda

A smile fills his face

The love he felt when she was born

Still fills a special place

When Mandy sees her daddy

Her eyes take on a glow

For in his arms she feels so safe

The world will never know

They go on walks together

And talk about the world

For up on daddy’s shoulders

All its wonders are unfurled

The clouds, the sky, the mountains,

The grass, the birds, the trees

They talk about how Providence

Made everyone of these

They stop off at the playground

Cause Mandy likes to swing

When daddy pushes Mandy high

She’s above everything

Then down the slide she thunders

But Mandy doesn’t fear

For down there at the bottom sure

Is her Dad to catch his dear

Dad feeds her, clothes her, cleans her up

Whatever she might need

She’s very young, but understands

His love in word and deed

At night she sits in daddy’s lap

He reads her books galore

He knows each page he turns for her

Will open up a door

Then late at night he tucks her in

And prays on as she sleeps

“Dear God, please bless this child of mine

And watch her soul to keep”

But time moves ever faster

With every passing day

It seems they’re time had just begun

But now has slipped away

So back she goes to mommy’s house

But while she is away

Her daddy thinks and Mandy dreams

Of times they got to play

Sometimes they both get lonely

And wish each other near

They pray the day will come

When Love shall wipe away all tears

Autobiography

We cannot rewrite the past

Just the present mainly

For the history we write

Is amended daily

Though reminded of our past

There is room to change

These new chapters in our life

Build our future’s range

The Wish Flower

I found a wish flower

I thought of all that it could be

I took a breath and closed my eyes

and blew away the seeds

Each one floated in the air

Carried by the breeze

Each one a wish

Softly adrift

For every wish is free

Some were for my family

Some were just for me

Some I simply watched in flight

To see where they might lead

One wish landed in a tree

It gently came to rest

Right by a bird who used its fluff

While feathering its nest

I wish I could live in a tree

And roost up in its leaves

From high above I’d see the world

And my own nest I’d weave

I wish that I could learn to fly

Like birds and spread my wings

I’d follow every wish

Until it landed on something

Like that one on the doggy’s nose

And that one on a kite

Like that one a velvet rose

And that one on a bike

I realized I could wish all day

On everything in sight

I then thought of what I wished for most

To bring me such delight

I thought of Grandma’s failing eyes

Wishing that she could see

Me climb a tree

Or catch a frog

Or maybe read to me

How did she spend her wishes

When like me she was small

It must have been on family

To love her above all

I’ll bet you that she closed her eyes

And wished for one like me

And with her breath she blew a kiss

While scattering the seeds

So somehow, somewhere deep inside

I guess she sees me still

The same as when she closed her eyes

And wished life to fulfill

The world is full of wishes now

For each wish is a seed

And every seed that’s planted

Brings us countless more indeed

I wish that I was like a wish

That floated on the breeze

To help make every wish come true

For every wish is free

Perpetuation

Early limitations rarely continue

First stigmatizations seldom remain true

These perpetuations that we buy into

Seal our destination if they’re misconstrued

Accruing Assets

Choice reveals desire

Influencing too

Consequence required

New motives accrue

Devaluation

How can I pollute my world

And enjoy living there?

How can I destroy my house

And have a cozy lair?

How can being unkind

To my neighbor profit me?

I devalue my own life

By hurting those I see

Aversion

How does choice effect me

Within and without?

Does pursuing the carnal

Cause my spirit drought?

When I gain what I desire

Does it also hurt?

If it does, then chances are

These I should avert

Actionable

Good works create benefit

This is appealing

Drawing our desire

Towards more noble dealings

This fashion’s our motive

And enjoyment brings

Strengthening connections

To our fellow beings

Effectual

Actions exert cause

Cause propels effect

Effect spawns experience

Experience projects

Back onto the spirit

Back into the soul

Repulsive or pleasant

Shaping motives goal

Need

Emotional imbalance

Often distorts need

Need propels desire

Desire--motives feed

So we see the psyche

Has a great effect on soul

Both feed into the other

And provide a vital role

If we hope to purify our hearts

We must concede

Emotions must be rectified

As well as twisted need

Drive

The way we feel about our world

And how we view our life

Evaporates into the soul

Emotions shaping drive

It focuses desire

It motivates volition

Either in selfless service

Or in serving vain ambition

Desperate

He desperately needed to lower his stress

Blood pressure soared dangerously

Which caused him to worry more about his health

So much so, he barely could breathe

Which caused him to gasp as anxiety soared

And the compounding problem increased

Like boa constrictors his chest tightened more

But rests now, for he is deceased

Realism

Accurate thought is crucial

To the sculpting of the soul

An artist must see clearly

The subject he hopes to mold

If not, his works appear abstract

Unintentionally droll

We must see self aright

For inner beauty to unfold

The Wall

Do you believe in your potential?

Do you believe that you can change?

Do you believe there is forgiveness?

Do you believe heaven’s in range?

If not, you are thoroughly cursed

You won’t make an effort at all

But realize that this is your doing

For you have erected the wall

The Architect

Envisioned the form in his mind

Gave birth to the outer design

But his knowledge of structure and process

Confirmed his ideas were aligned

He had total faith in the outcome

He knew the basis of success

Effort over time, all resources combined

His pyramid did coalesce

Self-Assured

How is it some pretend to faith?

What is it they hope to achieve?

Surely if they meet resistance

It only confirms disbelief

Yet faith forges through opposition

It believes the goal can be reached

It seeks to find clever solutions

To conquer when others retreat

Motivation

How do we dissect motivation?

The first element is a need

The second, desire to fill it

The third, strategy to proceed

The fourth must be faith in the tactic

Without it no actions will breed

Nor will it sustain constant effort

In hopes that our work will succeed

Daddy Shopping

Me and my mommy live alone.

We have lots of fun together.

Playing inside every morning at home

Then go on long walks in good weather

We have each other and always will

But I need to find her a prince

We’ll go daddy shopping, she’s smart as can be

But I have to drop her some hints

That one’s too tall

That one’s too short

That one’s too skinny

For mommy to court

That one looks good

He’s big and he’s round

Like a soft teddy bear

For her arms to surround

Put a check by that one

On the list--jot it down

There’s still others things on my list to compare

A good head on his shoulders

But not that much hair

And not so much color

That’s far too much flair

Yes, balding is good

And it’s needs little care

Put another check down

For that one with the glare

That man’s house is big

But it doesn’t have yard

There’s no where to play

And my mom works so hard

Apartments are smaller, but pets aren’t allowed

If they are not wanted

Then three is a crowd

But what’s this?

A playhouse!

And he’s painted it pink

It goes with mom’s lipstick

It’s perfect I think

But who are his friends?

Are they many or few?

Are they nice or unkind?

Are they fickle or true?

Looky there on a leash

See it wagging its tail

A doggy is surely man’s best friend as well

This guy has it all

But I hope he likes kids

Then I saw his daughter

And knew that he did

She was little like me

And she had lots of toys

So I think this development

Narrows her choice

So I drug her each day on our walk by his door

And I played with his daughter

As never before

But mom didn’t mind

I could tell by her laugh

He helped find her smile

And her better half

So I sat down and listed the pros and the cons

He’s fat and he’s balding with playhouse and dog

A daughter with toys. and he’s funny as well

The only downside--far as I can tell

Is that they kiss a lot

Just a minor detail

But life has its tradeoffs

And cards that we're dealt

But lucky for mom

I was there to lend help

The day they got married

Barefoot on the beach

I got a new sister

That’s a fair trade for each

We wore pretty dresses

And they had to kiss

But I got some cake and some ice cream

And gifts

Now I have a sister, a dog, and new toys

And mom has a man

Cause my mommy likes boys

If you have to go daddy shopping like me

Make a list for your mom

Be as picky can be
