Daddy Shopping

Me and my mommy live alone.

We have lots of fun together.

Playing inside every morning at home

Then go on long walks in good weather

We have each other and always will

But I need to find her a prince

We’ll go daddy shopping, she’s smart as can be

But I have to drop her some hints

That one’s too tall

That one’s too short

That one’s too skinny

For mommy to court

That one looks good

He’s big and he’s round

Like a soft teddy bear

For her arms to surround

Put a check by that one

On the list--jot it down

There’s still others things on my list to compare

A good head on his shoulders

But not that much hair

And not so much color

That’s far too much flair

Yes, balding is good

And it’s needs little care

Put another check down

For that one with the glare

That man’s house is big

But it doesn’t have yard

There’s no where to play

And my mom works so hard

Apartments are smaller, but pets aren’t allowed

If they are not wanted

Then three is a crowd

But what’s this?

A playhouse!

And he’s painted it pink

It goes with mom’s lipstick

It’s perfect I think

But who are his friends?

Are they many or few?

Are they nice or unkind?

Are they fickle or true?

Looky there on a leash

See it wagging its tail

A doggy is surely man’s best friend as well

This guy has it all

But I hope he likes kids

Then I saw his daughter

And knew that he did

She was little like me

And she had lots of toys

So I think this development

Narrows her choice

So I drug her each day on our walk by his door

And I played with his daughter

As never before

But mom didn’t mind

I could tell by her laugh

He helped find her smile

And her better half

So I sat down and listed the pros and the cons

He’s fat and he’s balding with playhouse and dog

A daughter with toys. and he’s funny as well

The only downside--far as I can tell

Is that they kiss a lot

Just a minor detail

But life has its tradeoffs

And cards that we're dealt

But lucky for mom

I was there to lend help

The day they got married

Barefoot on the beach

I got a new sister

That’s a fair trade for each

We wore pretty dresses

And they had to kiss

But I got some cake and some ice cream

And gifts

Now I have a sister, a dog, and new toys

And mom has a man

Cause my mommy likes boys

If you have to go daddy shopping like me

Make a list for your mom

Be as picky can be
