Amanda & Her Daddy

Amanda and her daddy

Are very special friends

They live apart, but love in heart

And visit on weekends

When daddy sees Amanda

A smile fills his face

The love he felt when she was born

Still fills a special place

When Mandy sees her daddy

Her eyes take on a glow

For in his arms she feels so safe

The world will never know

They go on walks together

And talk about the world

For up on daddy’s shoulders

All its wonders are unfurled

The clouds, the sky, the mountains,

The grass, the birds, the trees

They talk about how Providence

Made everyone of these

They stop off at the playground

Cause Mandy likes to swing

When daddy pushes Mandy high

She’s above everything

Then down the slide she thunders

But Mandy doesn’t fear

For down there at the bottom sure

Is her Dad to catch his dear

Dad feeds her, clothes her, cleans her up

Whatever she might need

She’s very young, but understands

His love in word and deed

At night she sits in daddy’s lap

He reads her books galore

He knows each page he turns for her

Will open up a door

Then late at night he tucks her in

And prays on as she sleeps

“Dear God, please bless this child of mine

And watch her soul to keep”

But time moves ever faster

With every passing day

It seems they’re time had just begun

But now has slipped away

So back she goes to mommy’s house

But while she is away

Her daddy thinks and Mandy dreams

Of times they got to play

Sometimes they both get lonely

And wish each other near

They pray the day will come

When Love shall wipe away all tears
