The Chimera
I faced a mammoth monster
The scariest I’ve seen
It had thousands of heads in rows
Surrounding me in rings
Its myriad eyes glared at me
Terrified I froze in place
As countless teeth all gnashed at me
A thunderous hiss abased
It seemed to sense my fear
And feed off my anxiety
Creating the inferior
Gave its superiority
I wondered why this behemoth
Felt challenged by one’s calm
Its massive coils quivered
As if hesitant for qualm
I then sensed it was insecure
And challenged it take my stead
The ominous form then fell apart
At last the Titan dead
‘Twas then I saw it was composed
Of frightened individuals
The crowd dispersed both last and first
And left not one residual
I stood in the arena
Cloaked in silence all alone
The monster like its victims
Were through self-doubt overthrown
The Frightening Peer Chimera
Is but conjured through facade
The only thing you have to fear
Is your own fear and fraud
