Last Pick
I feel like a child who is “Last Pick”
All alone on the playground stand I
My life--chosen by default
Just like sand among salt
With no savor, no fellow, nor limelight
Sometimes the game loses meaning for me
As team work is something I watch
Way down on the list
I’m the something they missed
Passed over--by silence I’m mocked
I dare not take risk, though I’d like to contribute
A single misstep, and I’d let down the team
I give it my best, but I haven’t the gift
“A walk is as good as a hit!”
In my head like a scream
On the play ground of God I am “Last Pick”
To stand on this earth for the right
My name will not go down in history
Though I’m wearing a jersey of light
And so, when this odyssey ‘s over
With throng of mysterious voice
All my teammates will cheer
As I stand at the rear
With my head bowed, rejoicing at victory
